Based on the trailers and that one parabatai gif - you know which one ;) Also, Victor Aldertree is a bad guy here. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.
A simple trap. So simple. So effective.
“Another bust, sir,” Raj reports. “Jace wasn’t there. We must’ve missed him by minutes, both him and Valentine.”
Victor turns towards him. “I don’t care about Morgenstern right now. Right now, I want that traitor Wayland.”
A conversation I hope happens bc I can’t sleep. Set in 1x05

They’re stood in a tent waiting on a faerie when Jace finally decides he wants to attempt to talk about the topic that had been bothering him. Alec.
“I know, you know” He mumbled. Isabelle shoots him a look that quite clearly says he’s being stupid. He probably is, doing this when Izzy doesn’t have the opportunity to chew him out immediately after. Or maybe he’s being really smart.
“What are you talking about?” She looks at him disdainfully, but that’s just Izzy when anyone is being painfully stupid, although it is usually directed at him. He doesn’t take it to heart.
“I know about Alec” Isabelle’s eyes widen in panic for a brief second then her face is back to casual disinterest. He quietly congratulates himself on his detective work.
“I know he fancies himself in love with me” He shrugs, “I know he isn’t though”
“How do you know?” Isabelle whispered. Jace doesn’t look disgusted so she goes with it.
“When has Alec ever been able to hide anything from us?” Jace laughed remembering all the times Alec had attempted to lie to them. He could lie to everyone but his siblings, they all knew that. Even Alec.
“Why are you so certain he doesn’t love you like that?” Isabelle was suddenly curious. She was happy to let Alec believe what he wanted, but she wanted to know what Jace thought. Maybe he could provide her with some insight to her brother.
“I’m safe” He shrugged again, “We all know how Alec hates to break the rules. Being gay breaks a rule. If he’s in love with his Parabatai he can’t do anything about it. Ergo I’m the only option he has to express himself to himself without losing his head in the process”
Isabelle was surprised. For all their jokes, they really did think Jace erred on the side of overly vain. They obviously didn’t give him enough credit.
“What are you going to do then?”
“Nothing” Jace replied, perking up as he heard foot steps approaching, “I want Alec to tell me himself. He’s my Parabatai and I want him to trust me. If that means being oblivious to everything then so be it. As long as Alec’s happy”
Isabelle smiled. She was more than happy to help him along in his endeavour. She wrapped an arm around Jace’s waist and hugged him to her, smiling even more when Jace dropped an arm around her shoulders to return it.
“Mission Alec’s happiness is a go then” she laughed. Jace rolled his eyes and let her go, but he did mock toast to that.
just kill me why dontcha
- max may have fawned over how cool jace was, but it was alec’s bed that he crawled into when he had nightmares.
- izzy and jace are more alike than the two of them think.
- alec and isabelle and jace all celebrate max’s birthday after he dies. just the three of them going to the countryside (sometimes in idris) and doing pretty much nothing. they bring some of his old comic books and they take naps in the sun and if any of them cry its okay because they’re the only ones who will know
- jace isnt really as oblivious/uncaring as he seems in the books when it comes to alec and his love life. after Edom he makes sure he takes the time to properly listen when he notices that his brother is hurting
- after Magnus broke up with Alec, Iz and Jace didnt leave him alone (actually canon but) they went everywhere with alec and when he seemed to be a little worse than before they would silently make sure that he knew he wasnt alone (an arm across the shoulders, knees knocking under the table)
- after what happened with simon in cohf alec and jace knew that neither one of them could really be a help tp izzy bc they didn’t know simon well enough for it to matter so they asked clary to keep an eye on her, because the two of them were really what each other needed (apart from simon)
- alec takes to telling iz and jace that he loves them (or something along those lines) when they go their separate ways at the end of the night bc he never got to say that to max one last time
- alec used to sing when his siblings were upset, the same song maryse sang. if he noticed one of his siblings were feeling bad he would start humming or singing under his breath. iz and jace and max would instantly start to relax.
Send me a character/ship/whatever and I’ll whip up some headcanons!
Lightwood sibling love! Thank you Nonie!
Isabelle sat on her bed, staring into her closet with narrowed eyes. The bright colors and high heels started back at her, mocking. Suddenly, she stood, making her way to he closet and flinging the doors open fully. Grabbing hangers, she started tossing cloths to the floor. Anything sheer or skimpy was going. She wasn’t sure how long she had been doing this when she suddenly felt a large hand on hers and a warmth at her back. She froze.
“Easy, Iz,” her brothers voice muttered, making her release her hold on the navy halter top she had in her hands.
Silently taking her by the shoulders, he guided her to her bed, gesturing for her to sit. She did, leaning up against the headboard and pulling her legs to her chest. She was shaking, she realized, and wrapped her arms around her legs.
Alec joined her against the headboard, long legs stretched out in front of him. He eyed her for a minute before sighing. “I didn’t want this for you,” he muttered.
She sighed and let her head fall onto her knees, eyes squeezing shut so she wouldn’t have to look at him. She knew it was so much worse for him. She’d done her best to help. To let him vent, to get him to open up. “I’m sorry,” sighed. “It’s stupid, I should just…” she trailed off when she heard him growl.
“It’s not stupid Isabelle. You shouldn’t have to do this. Neither of us should,” he huffed.
She opened her eyes, glancing up at him. “I don’t know what else to do.”
Alec’s mouth quirked a bit and he shrugged. “Me either. If I figure something out, I’ll let you know.”
She grinned back, shaking her head. “I love you,” she muttered.
“Love you too,” he said. Sighing, he swung his legs over the bed and stood, stretching. “It’s dinner, but I’ll tell them you’re asleep and you’ll eat later.”
She nodded. “Thanks,” she sighed, slouching down to lay on her side as he left. She blinked at the mess that was on her floor now, and bit her lip.
Anons wanted a story based on the 110 promo.
Alec can feel the burning cold of the Forsaken poison coursing through his veins, the pain making it hard to breathe, to think, the sensation so horrible Alec feels like he’s losing his mind…
“Jace!”
One moment Jace’s fighting a demon, chopping off its head with an easy grin on his face - the next he’s on the ground, writhing in agony so terrible that for a moment he would gladly die just to make it stop.
He doesn’t understand what’s going on. Was there another demon? Did it stab Jace? He screams so loud his throat hurts and arches his back in pain. It feels like he’s being ripped apart, torn to pieces, dying by degrees… He touches his side, the place where the pain’s radiating from - but there’s nothing there, just…
Jace opens his eyes wide in shock and horror, and screams, “ALEC!”
… And then it’s gone. All gone. The agony, the burning sensation. All of it. And he feels… empty, hollowed out, as if something was carved out of him or cut off, the corner of his mind that’s always thrummed with warmth, his parabatai bond with Alec, gone numb, like a limb fallen asleep, a useless hunk of flesh.
“No…” Jace breathes out. “No. Nononono!” He sits up fast, heart beating so hard it hurts, and lifts up his shirt, expecting to find his parabatai rune gone or burned out or bleeding or…
The rune’s still there, but there’s another one running through it, circle-shaped and angry red and hot to the touch. “What…?”
He grabs his phone and calls Alec, cursing bitterly when his parabatai doesn’t pick up. His hands are shaking now, so hard he barely manages to dial Izzy’s number - and again, no answer. “Damn it! Damn, come on!” he yells. Their parents will be in Idris by now, so who to call…? Hodge.
“He’s alive,” is the first thing that Hodge says when he picks up. “Barely, but he’s holding in there.”
Jace closes his eyes and breathes out shakily. “What happened?” he croaks out.
“It’s the Forsaken wound.” Hodge pauses. “The poison’s spreading fast now, Jace. It’s eating away at him. He could feel you hurting through the bond, so I blocked it, an old trick Val…” He chokes, then grits out, “you know who came up with back in the day. Alec… he didn’t want to risk he would take you with him, when he…” He doesn’t finish his sentence.
Jace’s throat tightens. “There must be something you can do!”
“Rune magic isn’t working. We sent for Magnus Bane, but…” Hodge pauses again and his voice is grave and quiet when he continues, “… but you should come, Jace. This might be your last chance.”
To say good-bye. Jace blinks fast, tears burning in his eyes. He staggers to his feet. “I’ll be there,” he says in a thick voice. “Tell him, I’m coming, Hodge. Tell him that! I swear, I’m coming…”
happy birthday anon i hope u have a fucking incredible day (good times & good people) and lets start ur day with some brotherly jalec (no one’s asked for brotherly jalec in a while ily):
- Jace knows all too well Alec’s fear of spiders so when he finds Alec propped up on his bed, hollering wildly, he shouldn’t be all too surprised. Jace creaks Alec’s door open, peeking through the crack before pulling the door wide open. Alec doesn’t pay him any attention, wholeheartedly fixated on the gangly spider dangling near his dresser:
“By the angel Jace, kill it.” Alec shrieked. “Kill it, kill it, kill it.”
“Working on it.”
Jace quickly advanced towards the mess, a shoe haphazardly laying beside the dresser. The massive dent in the wall tells Jace the entire story of how Alec had tried dealing with the spider before he had arrived.
“Jeez Alec, you didn’t need to dent the wall.” Jace quipped. “Mom’s going to be pissed.”
“Mom can be pissed later, kill the spider now.” Alec looked incredibly pale, still perched on his bed, the blankets crumbled around his feet mercilessly.
“How long have you been… stuck like this?” Jace started conversationally, lifting the shoe, aiming to hit the spider.
“Jace.” Alec squealed, reconsidering the ‘killing’ thing. “Do not use my shoe to smear that spider everywhere. Don’t kill it, I don’t want spider guts everywhere.”
Jace huffed. “Well do you have a tissue-”
Jace was interrupted when a Kleenex box came careening towards his head, catching the box millimetres before it would’ve decked him in his temple.
“Interesting. You can almost knock me out but the moment a spider is your target, you miss completely.” Jace responded, glancing towards the shoe lying on the floor.
“I was distracted by that-that thing that’s by my clothes.” Alec started imploringly. “I’m going to have to burn them all.”
“Well at least Magnus’ll be happy.”
“Stop talking to me,” Alec waved his hands frantically. “And just get rid of it already!”
Jace ended up catching inside the tissue, ignoring Alec’s shudders as he gently tossed it out the window, the tissue flying against the patches of grass.
“Angel,” Alec sighed. “That was horrifying.”
“I’m not sure what was more horrifying: your screams or that fact that you almost bruised my face.”
Alec ignored him, gently sliding down the wall to sit on his bed, crossing his legs. “Thanks Jace.”
“I’m always here to help a damsel in distress.”
(Alec chucks a pillow at Jace’s head and doesn’t miss, ruffling Jace’s hair spectacularly, something that Jace considered even worse than a small bruise)
- EATING HEADCANON: the two always pick food off of each other’s plates when the group are all out at a restaurant or in the mornings, at the institute, they share breakfast. So when Alec’s eating Fruit Loops he saves all the green ones because Jace only likes eating the green Fruit Loops or when they’re not very hungry, Alec splits a sandwich between them but Jace’s side has an irrational amount of mayonnaise whilst Alec’s side has more lettuce and tomato. They always share food, they know each other’s orders by heart for every fast food place they eat at and they make sure to know their coffee order (on more than one occasion, Alec wakes up and paddles to the kitchen sleepily, only to see Jace already dressed, chatting with Clary, Alec’s coffee ready)
- Similarily whenever Alec’s coming back from Magnus’s, he stops by Taki’s and picks Jace up some of his favourites (Clary’s too because he knows he’ll find them together)
- Alec has panic attacks and every single time it happens he starts hyperventilating and it feels as if he is choking. He never usually has an audience when they start, he’s likely alone but on more than a few occasions he’s hanging out with Izzy or Max and when it happens they immediately go find Jace because he’s the only one to know how to calm Alec down. When Alec has one, while he’s with Izzy and Max, Izzy immediately rushes off to find Jace while Max is looking confused and worried and scared. Max’s trying to be comforting but it’s only making Alec more anxious and ashamed and when Jace comes, he ends up shooing the other Lightwoods out. Jace crouches next to Alec while Alec’s forehead is pressed against the cool wood of the drawer and gently rubs circles against Alec’s back, murmuring that Alec needs to breathe (“Deeps breaths Alec, everything’s okay.” or “I’m here, try and breathe slower okay? Deep inhale.”). He manages to get Alec’s breathing back to normal, he always does, and Alec slouches back after the attack is finished, looking spent. The two end up talking, about something completely random, something that Jace initiates in order to get Alec’s mind off of what just happened, subtly looking him over and making sure he’s okay. Jace offers Alec some water, something he accepts gratefully, before inviting the other siblings back in, both with concern latching onto their features. (Alec’s fine and tells them so, looking over at Jace, silently thanking him a million times over)
- JACE COMING TO ALEC WHEN HES HAVING RELATIONSHIP ISSUES
“So I have a problem.”
Alec paused what he was doing, fleeting looking at Jace, his novel dropping to his side. “A Clary problem?”
Jace shrugged. “What else? My problems usually consist of either you, Clary or when I find out my father’s some homicidal asshole.”
Alec scoffed. “When have I ever been a problem?”
“When you take the last muffin and disappear off to Magnus’s and I’m forced to succumb to a soggy bowl of cereal.”
“You ate like fifty of them.”
“Besides the point.” Jace waved his hand flippantly. “Now, will you help me out?”
Alec closed his book, gesturing for Jace to sit with a nod of his head. “You must be desperate to come to me for advice.”
“I figured you were in a successful relationship-”
Alec winced thinking over the millions of arguments that he and Magnus had had, the millions of times where he had acted like an idiot.
“-ish.” Jace conceded.
“Alright. Talk to me.”
- ALEC RUFFLING JACE’S HAIR (it’s become a habit) and Jace rolling his eyes, trying to fix it every single time.
- The gang are at another General Clave meeting, Robert had said it was mandatory. Magnus is sitting further away, representing the Children of Lilith and Iz is next to Clary and Simon, taking a seat while Jace and Alec are still making their way over. They’re laughing and chatting and playfully shoving each other while they’re walking over, Jace snickering at something Alec said, both looking so entirely content and happy with each other. The two look like they’re not about to sit through another boring meeting, smiles too wide and eyes too bright. They end up sitting next to each other, Jace next to Clary and Alec at the end (he waves at Magnus, grinning when Magnus winks and mouths a small ‘I love you.’) (I just love jalec without everyone else, like the moments where they’re laughing and sharing inside jokes and chatting about things other than their dates/end of the world shit)
- JACE AND ALEC BEING FORCED TO GROCERY SHOP TOGETHER (Alec’s stuck pushing the cart while Jace’s upfront looking at the mass of products, throwing everything into the cart):
“Jace, what is that?”
“I don’t know but it looks good. Like small cake.”
“Do you even eat cake?”
“Well I might if we actually had some.” Jace tossed the box into the cart. “Hence, we’re buying it.”
OR
“How about we get these?”
“Jace, Izzy hates mushrooms.”
“This, then?”
“Simon’s vegetarian.”
Jace pointed at something else. “This?”
“Clary’s allergic.”
(At this point Alec ends up taking over, he’s the one who’s taken the time to know everyone’s dietary needs, forcing Jace to push the cart behind him)
(Jace, purposefully, bumps into him with the head of the cart and the two end up getting kicked out of the store after bickering and making a huge mess)
OR
Alec’s pushing the cart and Jace stands up on the end of it, holding tightly onto the rim before Alec races down the aisles.
(They get kicked out here too)
EDIT: fucking cute idea tagged by shadowhuntingotaku: Alec’s crouched inside of the shopping cart while Alec’s pushing him in the parking lot, swiftly dodging the cars and pot holes. The road is bumpy and Alec’s bobbing and his voice is vibrating whenever he tries to talk and Jace just keeps racing everywhere (after half an hour the two switch)
Based on this promo picture from 113.
“… and once this mission is over, I think it would be wise, if you removed yourself from the Institute,” Maryse says, busily reviewing data on the pad in her hands.
Alec’s quiet for a moment. “Are you asking me to leave?” he clarifies finally.
She looks at him, her eyes flinty. “It was neither a request nor a suggestion.”
Robert steps forward, between his wife and his son. “Maryse! This is taking it too far,” protests.
She slams the pad down. “Is it? What he did today? He humiliated us in front of everybody, and at a time when we needed to present ourselves as strong and firm, but thanks to our son,” she points angrily at Alec, “all of Idris will see us as fickle liars who can’t keep their word. And if the Branwells take offense? We will be ruined, Robert! We aren’t just back to square one, we are even worse off! And that you can’t see that proves, how blind you really are!”
Before Robert can respond, Alec says in a dispassionate voice, “As you wish mother. I’ll pack my things and be gone by morning. Now, if you excuse me, I have a mission to plan.” And with that, he turns and leaves, shoulders straight, head held high.
He feels… frozen. His mother’s words didn’t come as a shock to him, he has been expecting to hear them his whole life long. And when you’ve been dreading something for so long, when it finally happens, it’s almost a relief. Almost.
While he dresses in his battle gear, his mind is blank. He tries to think of his future - if he survives the upcoming battle with Valentine, that is - but it’s looming like a black hole in front of him, his thoughts shying away from it, fearing its depth and crushing power…
Jace’s waiting for him in the weaponry. He grins. “It mustn’t have been that bad,” he comments on Alec’s meeting with Maryse, “we didn’t hear any yelling and the Institute’s still standing. What did your mom want?”
Alec looks at him, still feeling numb and disconnected. “Nothing,” he answers, his voice dull, “nothing important.”
Not a happy doodle. Set in a mundane AU with no powers and it deals with an attempted suicide, that’s why I’m cutting it.
I really needed an angsty, tender, loving Jalec ficlet. Hence this.
The cell is cold and damp, just some small storage room on the ship, dirty and dark, a metallic scent hanging in the air - rust and… blood.
Alec coughs and his lips become stained with red again. Jace tightens his arms around him and wipes the blood off with his sleeve. He’s holding his parabatai close, letting Alec lean against his chest, sharing as much of his body heat with him as possible, because Alec’s cold, so very, very cold, having lost so much blood already and losing it still, the makeshift bandage on his stomach soaked with it.
It was a trap, of course it was, Valentine’s minions were waiting for them, and they walked right into it, he and Alec. Surrounded, they had no choice but to drop their weapons, and then… Then Valentine stabbed Alec, just like that, with no warning at all.
“You’re my son and you will join me,” Valentine said to Jace when Jace cried out in horror and caught his parabatai before he could hit the floor. “I would prefer you did it willingly, but I’ll settle for an unwilling cooperation, if need be.”
“Never,” Jace growled, holding Alec and trying to stem the bleeding. “I will never join you, and I don’t care if you’re my father or not!”
Valentine just smiled at him condescendingly. “You will. Because if you don’t, he,” he pointed at Alec who was gasping for breath, growing paler by the second, “will die. Join me and I will save him, you have my word.”
And now they are here, in this cell, without their weapons and their steles, just waiting for… Jace doesn’t know for what. His muscles are cramped, his back is screaming, but he refuses to move because every little shift makes Alec gasp in pain and he would rather suffer himself than hurt his parabatai.
And that means…
“Don’t…” Alec gasps, his voice barely audible. “Don’t… do it.”
Jace rests his cheek against the top of Alec’s head, eyes burning, a lump in his throat. “Shhh,” he whispers. “Don’t speak. Save your strength.”
But Alec refuses to listen. He grips Jace’s hand weakly. “Don’t… go with… him. Don’t… don’t give him… what he wants. It’s not… worth it.” He groans, coughs again and his whole body seizes. More blood pours out of his mouth.
Jace holds him firmly but gently, eyes squeezed shut to push back tears, till the coughing fit is over and Alec slumps in his arms, unconscious. Jace looks at down him and runs his fingers tenderly over his paper white face.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” he whispers. Then he steels himself and calls out, “Valentine!”
